East tops West in annual All-Star game

Surely by now you've heard the Eastern Conference All-Star beat the West on Sunday, 141-139.

After a sluggish start, the game was salvaged with a suprisingly competitive second half that saw 13 lead changes and the game came down to the final possession - what else can you ask for?

Here are a couple of random notes from the game

-This was the first Shaq and Kobe-less All-Star game since 1997

-Attendance was announced during the fourth quarter at 108,713. This may have been a little generous but nonetheless is the largest crowd to ever watch a basketball game in person

-Every player who saw court time scored, except Jason Kidd. Kidd played a game-low 6 minutes

-Of the five players to score 20+ points, four were from the 2003 draft class. Bosh, Wade, James and Anthony went off - the four combined for alomost 40% of the games' offense and 31 rebounds

  1. It’s amazing how many people watched the game! When you consider that the previous record for attendance at a basketball game was 78,129, the All-Star Game attendance exceeded this number by 30,584. In terms of a percent, the game’s attendance beat the old attendance record by 39.15 percent. Truly remarkable and mind-boggling!
